History of the city of Daytona Beach, Florida

When people plan to go to a place to spend their vacation, they usually are making their best to research for the things that they have to know about that place. Daytona Beach is one of the most popular vacation sights in Florida specifically located in the County of Volusia. It has many sights that are very good for having recreational activities that can be done by the seaside. Daytona Beach is said to be the spot to where water sport lovers usually go because of the great facilities that they have and also the very warm and loving citizens of the place.

The history of Daytona Beach started way back in the year 1500’s. This is the time when the European community started to socialize with the local citizens of the city of Daytona Beach. Timucuan Indians were the very first settlers of the city. They lived inside a wooden compound. The Timucuan Indians are described as a group of muscular people. They exceed six feet in height. Florida has been influenced by Spain during the years of their colonization. Most Europeans have settled in the place of Daytona Beach in the year 1800’s. During the year 1821, the United States had the rights over the area of Daytona Beach after the Spain’s defeat.

After the Cold War, it is when the state of Florida has flourished in the industry of tourism because of the wonderful scenery that it embodies. During holiday season, many visitors go in and out of the area because it is the perfect place to refresh and unwind. The further development of Daytona Beach city is credited to Matthias Day who is known to be one of the most famous businessmen in North America. He was the one who first established the very first hotel in Daytona called The Palmetto House and many other commercial establishments.

The St. John and Halifax River Railway located in Daytona Beach were sold to Henry Flagler.  Flagler owns the Florida East Coast Railway and after purchasing St. John and Halifax, he incorporated it with Florida East Coast Railway making it expand in the year 1889. Because of the innovations that have been built in the city, many people have appreciated the scenic surroundings in the city and by the use of the incorporated railways; they are free to come in and out of the city. The three towns of Daytona, Seabreeze and Daytona Beach in the year 1926 were merged and formed the Daytona Beach City making this the center of government administration of the whole city.

Long before, Daytona Beach has a great history that made its economy flourish. It will always make a city a good one when its background history had established firmly the things that the city should be having before venturing out on other fields. The history of Daytona Beach gave the city with everything that they must have to establish the things that it has today. Being one of the successful cities in Florida, Daytona Beach is one of the most visited places in the State of Florida.
